Here are some great tips that can help you boost your metabolism. By boosting your metabolism you will burn more calories even without moving.
Drink plenty of water
By drinking more water you can increase your metabolism for over an hour. The warming of the water by your body uses up energy so extra calories are burned. Also keeping your body hydrated can help you stay fit and younger for longer.
Eat like a King in the morning
Your metabolism is highest in the morning. Research has shown that people who skip breakfast are more likely to be fat than a person who eats breakfast.
Don’t eat too much late at night or just before going to bed
Your metabolism slows right down late at night and when you sleep any unused calories are usually stored as fat. There is also a danger relating to late night meals - research shows that people who regularly eat late at night has a higher chance of developing diabetes because the blood glucose level is still high and is not used up during sleep.
Eat more lean protein
The body uses more energy to process protein compared to carbohydrates or fat. By eating quality protein can also help build and repair your muscles after hard workouts.
Keep eating
Do not skip meals. Make sure you have 3 meals a day and a few healthy snacks. This will keep your body optimal and stop your body from going to starvation mode – by going into starvation mode the body slows down metabolism making it harder and harder for you to lose weight ( that’s probably why slim people keep eating and eating and still don’t get fat).
Make sure you get enough sleep
A tired body can’t process carbohydrates as a normal body. By sleeping enough you will focus better, lose more weight and have more energy in your life. Normally you should aim for 7-8 hours of sleep a day.
Build more muscle
The more muscle you have the more calories you will burn even when you do nothing. Extra muscles require more energy to run so extra calories are burned. Having extra muscles would also make your body look great.
Eat high protein foods
Try other alternatives to regular protein and try eating papaya and brown rice. Research has shown that papaya can produce enzymes which help the body digest protein more easily. Brown rice is know to help prevent muscle loss after exercise and can provide you with the extra fibre necessary for a better digestive system.
Change the type of exercise you do regularly
This will stop you becoming bored and giving up eventually. By regularly changing the type of exercise you do your body will always have to change to adapt to the new exercises and thus work harder so you will get fitter quicker and help burn more calories in the process.
Eat more chilies
Spicy food can boost your metabolism by raising your body’s temperature and therefore help burn more calories. It also helps your body release endorphins that can make you feel better and less grumpy. It also helps your body release excess water held on – great for losing the last bit of weight to make your body look perfect. By the way the capsaicin in chilies also have many medicinal properties and can help reduce inflammation….but be warned you will remember the chilies first thing in the morning if you eat too much!!!
Eat more fibre
Swap the white bread and pasta for brown rice, wheat or oats. Fibre is more filling but provides no calories so results in you eating less and consuming less calories.
Drink a cup of water before meal time
This will make you eat less and feel less bloated. Sometimes your body would mistake thirst for hunger so when you feel hungry it is a good idea to drink a glass of water – then you can really decide if you were really hungry or actually thirsty.
Drink green tea
Drinking green tea can help boost metabolism and burn more calories. However be warned – get some healthy meals ready because once your metabolism gets going you will get really hungry….you will eat anything healthy or unhealthy that is available.
So you see you can really burn extra calories and really don’t have to do much. This is how you can really make a difference to your weight loss. It’s the small changes in your life that would eventually make the biggest difference.
Remember losing weight is a gradual process and should never be rushed. Forget the fad diets and miracle pills. It may work for a while but once you stop the fad diets or stop taking the pills the weight would just pile back on again.
